Abromitis as its new President & Chief Operating Officer, a position to which he was appointed in April 2009. Mr. Abromitis will help WePOWER expand its innovative wind energy technologies in key markets including wind farms, commercial and industrial applications, as well as government, institutional users and residential homeowners.
Mr. Abromitis has over 25 years in the energy industry across several sectors including wind and other alternative energy projects, independent energy, utilities, heavy infrastructure networks, manufacturing and finance. “WePOWER is proud to have energy veteran, Jim Abromitis, join our management team. In his role as President & COO for WePOWER reporting to Mr. Winkler, Mr. Abromitis will be responsible for design engineering, manufacturing, technology, product innovation, construction/installation and international operations. “WePOWER’s unique approach to wind energy is transforming the energy sector and I am proud to be a part of this new movement,” explained newly appointed WePOWER President & COO Jim Abromitis. “I look forward to helping the company bring its innovative wind energy technologies to new markets everywhere.”
Before joining WePOWER, Mr. Abromitis spent five years at Exelon Enterprises, one of the nation's largest utility companies, where he served as Vice President and General Manager of Exelon Thermal Technologies. In his role to acquire and develop independent utility/energy systems, Mr. Abromitis created new business applications, supervised strategic planning, joint venture agreements and technical operations for energy-related projects. He was also responsible for the district energy system serving downtown Chicago as well as energy systems serving major metropolitan markets in Las Vegas, Boston and Houston.
Prior to his work at Exelon, Mr. Abromitis was vice president of New York-based Trigen Energy Corporation, a $200 million energy and energy services company which manufactures large scale commercial and industrial electricity, heating and cooling facilities. There, Mr. Abromitis was responsible for new project development, business acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic planning throughout the Americas. He was also president of Trigen Energy Baltimore/Washington where he was responsible for all business activities in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and President of Trigen Energy Federal Projects where he was responsible for all business activities worldwide. Mr. Abromitis also founded the energy savings performance contracting (ESPC) business for the company. Prior to Trigen, Mr. Abromitis worked for Westinghouse Credit Corporation where he was responsible for providing debt and equity financing for various transportation, energy, and industrial companies with a portfolio of assets exceeding $800 million.
Mr. Abromitis is a graduate of Villanova University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
